The difference between angle steel and angle iron

Although some literature may mention that there are differences in the materials of angle iron and angle steel, in daily use and in the field of construction, they are usually regarded as different names for the same material. Therefore, when "angle iron" is mentioned, it actually refers to the same product as "angle steel", that is, a long strip of steel with two sides perpendicular to each other at an angle.

Angle steel and angle iron are the same material in the construction field and are often used interchangeably.

Angle steel and angle iron both refer to long strips of steel with two sides perpendicular to each other. They are consistent in appearance and specifications, but in some cases, they may be considered different names. Angle steel (angle iron) is usually divided into two types: equal angle steel and unequal angle steel. The width of the two sides of the equal angle steel is equal, while the width of the two sides of the unequal angle steel is different. These steels are widely used in the fields of construction and engineering, such as beams, bridges, transmission towers, lifting and transportation machinery, ships, industrial furnaces, reaction towers, container racks, and warehouse construction.

Equal Angle Steel: Angle steel with equal width on both sides, and its specifications are expressed in millimeters of side width × side width × side thickness. For example, "∠30×30×3" represents an equal angle steel with a side width of 30 mm and a side thickness of 3 mm.
Unequal Angle Steel: Angle steel with unequal width on both sides, whose two sides are of different lengths, is usually used in specific structures that require different strengths or sizes.
